Everybody needs somebody in their life to do life with. We all need community. God never intended us to do life on our own or figure out life’s difficult seasons on our own. Maybe you’ve wanted to find some great friendships and people to walk through life with. Maybe you’ve tried small groups in the past, but just didn’t find the right fit. Maybe you don’t feel like you have time to add ONE MORE THING to your already full schedule. This week, we are kicking off a brand-new series called WE is greater than ME. We are going to explore what authentic relationships look like. Wherever you’re at in your spiritual journey, my prayer is that you would find someone to journey with.

Colossians Series Week 12 | Speaker Brandon Reed | August 20th, 2023

Sunday Mar 31, 2024
We are wrapping up our time in the letter of Colossians this week, and these 95 verses over the course of 4 chapters have been so life shaping, but Paul hasn’t finished until he signs the letter himself. He writes, “I, Paul, write this greeting with my own hand. Remember my chains. Grace be with you.” (Colossians 4:18) But there is a deeply personal connection that he tags to his letter to Colossians. When Paul sent this letter to be read to the church in Colossae, he also had a message for a man named Philemon that is so deeply intertwined in what we need to hear today. We love that our church is home for the wanderer. We are a place of rest for the weary. We pray for and hope expectantly for Jesus to restore all things, and honestly, the restoration of all things can seem like a daunting task that Jesus has invited us into. But what if we told you that the restoration of all things begins in our own homes, in our place of work, on the waves we surf? The restoration of all things begins in the relationships we hold dear. Restoration begins with relationships.

Colossians Series Week 11 | Speaker Brandon Brickley | August 13th, 2023

Pastor Brandon Brickley teaches on MVC's Youth Sunday. The phrase “It takes a village.” has been reduced to parenting tips online and a platform for tired parents to vent. For Mountain View Church, it is so much more than swapping sleeping strategies and feeding rituals. Mountain View Kids & Youth Ministries aim to create a safe place for our youth to come and BE the church. Our Kid's Ministry has amazing leaders dedicated to showing up for kids so they discover that “KIDS CAN”! Our Middle & High-School Ministries come alongside our teenagers to disciple them to discover the “Life to the full” that Christ offers. This, is the village! The book of Ecclesiastes encourages the youth to “Remember your Creator in the days of your youth” (Ecclesiastes 12:1), and Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these” (Matthew 19:14). This is not just a parent thing. The “Village of MVC" is not just a youth leader or kid's volunteer thing... It is a CHURCH thing. And each of us plays a part in bringing kids to Christ. We will be celebrating what God is doing in the youth, and we will be looking at the last few verses in Colossians, where we see the early structure of the church and how it fulfills the mission of Christ.

Pastor Brandon Reed teaches on Collosians. This journey we’ve been on through Colossians has been so rich. Paul has carefully navigated through the depth of what Christ has done in making all things new, and as he turns the corner toward home, he reminds us of Jesus invitation to partner with Him in the greatest work of sharing the story of the Gospel. And the best news yet? It’s not rocket science!

Sunday Mar 31, 2024
Pastor Brandon Reed teaches on Colossians 3:22-4:1, where he explains that work is part of life. Whether you’re currently working full-time, part-time, retired or a stay at home parent, we all work in one way or another. As Paul has trimmed down to the very practical nature of what it looks like to put Jesus first in all, he shifts our focus to our work life. What does it look like to model Jesus at work? How do we put Jesus first in the marketplace? What does this look like for a stay at home parent? Welcome to Mountain View Church! Colossians Series Week 9 | Speaker Taylor Bedoya | July 23rd, 2023

Sunday Mar 31, 2024
Taylor Bedoya, our Family Pastor, teaches on how our perspective changes everything. Years ago, we had taken a group of students up to a camp for a serving opportunity where they served as waiters in a restaurant. Night one went by and they were shocked…how could that have been so hard? Why were they so exhausted? What did they get themselves into? What they thought would be “easy serving” allowing them to get out and have some fun turned into a huge learning lesson. Night two was even worse! They didn’t feel they were treated like human beings, they were ordered around, they never got a chance to sit down…tough job! Night three came and they began to notice the difference between people who were kind to them compared to the people who ignored them and only cared about getting what they wanted as quickly as possible. As we sat down to debrief, they all grumbled and complained, but one kid sat up straight to share something. He said, “I know how I want to treat waiters now. I never used to ask them their name and I would sometimes feel annoyed if they didn’t get the food out quickly. But, never again. I will never treat them like that again.” Perspective shift! This reminds me of how we might walk into the close relationships we have. We all walk into relationships with a load of previous experiences and it can be easy to simply stick to what we know. To see from the lens of the past. Two in particular - our relationship with God as our Father and our relationship with our children. But, what if God has a perspective shift for us? When we remember that we are children of God and when we remember the kind of Father He is, it changes the way we parent - in fact, it changes the way we see everyone. Following Jesus doesn’t just change the spiritual parts of our life. Being a Christian doesn’t just shape the religious aspects of life. In Colossians, Paul says, “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” (Colossians 3:17) This week, Brandon Reed is going to look at how Jesus shapes some of the most important relationships in our life.
